Balance's Beginnings

Co-founded by Amy & Danny Guhl

In 2022, while out walking their dogs Lily and Murphy in Nova Scotia, a dream began to take shape for Amy and Danny. Amy was back at St. Francis Xavier University, at the time, working hard on a second degree in Human Kinetics to complement her existing Nutrition degree. She turned to Danny and said, “When we move back to Whitehorse, I want to build a health and wellness facility.”

That vision became a reality on April 1, 2023, when Balance Health & Fitness officially opened its doors to the community. Amy and Danny wanted to build more than just a gym; they wanted to create a calm, clean, and uncrowded adults-only sanctuary. They knew that typical fitness environments can be stressful; filled with clutter, loud distractions, and unpredictable crowds.

Balance was designed to be the opposite: a quiet, supportive home base where Whitehorse residents can focus purely on long-term wellness. Here, you’ll find a pristine space where your health comes first, and where you can pursue your fitness goals in a modern environment that truly feels like a second home.
